What's Mine is Mine
The arrogance of SHIELD amazes Loki.

Did they think he would just forget that they stole from him after the incident with the green ogre? Ignore the fact that they thought he would rot away in an Asgardian cell for his alleged crimes against humanity, or that his brother thinks him dead, or even that he needs no wand nor scepter to wield his magic. Those are all beside the fact that the SHIELD ants stole his beautiful scepter from him and Loki has every intention of getting it back. His only obstacle is that he has to wait for the right time, and he doesn't have the freedom to come and go from Asgard as it pleases him. He has responsibilities and... subjects who need him, and all these disgusting chains that keep him place against his will when all he wants is the freedom do whatever he wants when he wants it.

He has plenty of chances, but when he finds out that the monkeys have found out how to utilize it, and later when he understands what they are actually trying to do with it, he's too curious to break up the party. He wants to see where those experiments leads him. If they make him something useful, he might forgive them for stealing his scepter he tells himself. not likely

He likes the twins from the very start and from the moment he realizes that they will live through the trials his plan is to take them, but the Avengers ruin that plan pretty fast (typical) and Loki finds himself scrambling for a new one while the world is hurtling towards a potential end. He wants to take them both, but risk of exposing himself is too high and the one who is now presumed dead is the one he can snatch out of there quick and easy. The girl can wait for another time, but he will take her when the time comes. These two were made with his scepter. Simply put, they're his.

Loki takes the silver haired one with him to one of the many many realms he has access to. It's outside of Asgard's reach and there's little there but flora and fauna. Which might be boring, but he has a little hovel deep in dark woods where he hides from time to time, and there he has everything he needs to heal the boy and drag him back from the brink of death.

It takes some time, but sooner or later the telltale signs of breathing become apparent again. It's shallow at first, but with the damage to his lungs healed by Loki's magic--to the point where it was almost as though most of his injuries had never taken place to begin with, it doesn't take long before Pietro's chest is rising and falling with deep, purposeful breaths in a subconscious effort to provide oxygen throughout the entirety of his body once more.

Apparently Loki's power was the only jump-start that Pietro's body needed to begin functioning properly again. Once pulled back from the brink with his wounds healed, his heightened metabolism kicks into high gear in order to restore any further damage to his internal organs that would have likely been irreparable otherwise. It takes some time, but even so Pietro's body working in conjunction with Loki's methods see him recover much quicker than might have been expected.

Pietro can't be certain how long it takes, but eventually his eyes flutter open for the first time since they were closed by his comrade following his sacrifice. His vision is blurry, and his mind is racing--likely due to the adrenaline coursing through him as he begins to recall the circumstances of his 'death.' It takes some doing, as his memories are fragmented, and everything after seeing two lives in danger is nothing more than a hazy blur of action, pain, and blood.

He attempts to sit upright almost immediately once he's managed to piece enough of it together to form some semblance of understanding, his focus moving toward his torso as he does so. There are no signs of injury anywhere. It's as if he has been restored entirely. With no explanation as to how this could be possible, he instinctively begins to look around to search for something to give him some sort of insight into what has happened.

He can be so amazingly patient when he has to be. His attention to detail, when not clouded by bitter rage, is flawless, and all of that focus and wealth of knowledge is directed towards bringing back this boy who's life is ebbing away.

His secret lack of self-confidence has him worry during that first time when there's no sign of change. There's a sigh of relief when his magic actually works and the silver-haired one's body takes over and begins to repair itself.

Too curious to not watch, Loki hovers over him and notes as many details as he can catch while life comes back to the boy. It's information that could come in handy, but that also means that he's right there when his eyes finally open.

He steps back instantly. The slight startle has him actually teleport to the other end of the room without fully meaning to do so, but that's good. He can stand there and pretend to be too engrossed in the first book his hands can reach and act like he doesn't even notice the one waking up.

"Ah. You're awake. Lovely," he says and comes over with a casual smile. "Did you sleep comfortably?"
